Intertwining of the Digital and the Biological in the Artistic Practice
by Laura Beloff
In this chapter, Beloff examines a dynamic of scientification in the biological realm and the recent shift in technology-based arts towards techno-organic works and practices, which combine biological organisms and living matter with technology. She examines artistic emergences in between the biological and the technological realms as affecting the wider field of contemporary art, influencing a certain environmental aesthetic in Nordic contemporary art, while pointing towards current and future redefinitions of our human relationships with ‘nature’.
